Contemporary Expression of Traditional Vernacular

Located just east of Savannah’s Landmark Historic District along the Savannah River, this 155,000 SF luxury boutique hotel sits prominently at the center of the Eastern Wharf District, a brand-new 54-acre mixed-use development boasting multifamily residential, office, single-family residential, retail and seven acres of public open space, including squares and a park along the river.

The north entry façade of this 193-key, the 13-story hotel faces the river while the west façade faces the City of Savannah, allowing hotel guests at the second floor Pool Deck or Rooftop Bar to take in majestic views of the city’s church steeples, historic rooftops and Talmadge Memorial Bridge. Visitors approaching the site from downtown will be able to use the hotel as an iconic landmark, helping to identify the district’s center of activity.

In addition to the 75-seat signature restaurant with interior and street-level entrances, the hotel has a number of amenities, including the 108-seat rooftop bar and outdoor terraces, 1,000 SF fitness center, 3,700 SF ballroom, 1,600 SF of boardroom and meeting room space, pool deck and cocktail lounge located in the hotel lobby.

The hotel is a contemporary expression of traditional massing and stylistic vernacular. The tower of faux brick sits upon a two-story cast stone podium, capped with a multi-story crown of metal and glass. These elements are articulated via columns, pilasters, and cornices that harken back to Savannah’s past while simultaneously looking forward towards its future.

The overall materials and massing of the hotel, restaurant, and conference center are purposefully distinct to resemble three unique buildings, alluding to the project’s urban context and pedestrian-friendly, civic-minded intentions of the overall Eastern Wharf District.
