Seamless Design in Vireo

Vireo

With a touch of southern hospitality, Vireo is a 26-story multifamily residential project designed for Lennar Multifamily Communities. Located adjacent to Piedmont Park in the popular community of Midtown Atlanta, Vireo brings together the residential scale of 13th street with the charming southern style of the neighborhoods that surround the park. Our Landscape Architects harnessed their understanding of the locale to create a sense of community in an urbanized streetscape that residents can engage with.

At street level, colorful and overflowing planting groups provide a garden-like atmosphere that blends well with the rest of the residential neighborhood by bringing a “front porch” atmosphere out to the street. Dog walks and bike racks are located around the street-level amenities enhancing the urban lifestyle. A mid-level green terrace and a rooftop pool deck provide structured amenity spaces for both private and communal gatherings, providing residents unique spaces to call their own.

Did you know that Smallwood has a dedicated team of Experiential Graphic Designers? As a multi-disciplinary firm, EGD plays an important role in delivering a memorable and seamless end user experience alongside our architecture, interior design, landscape, and construction administration teams! At Vireo our team of graphic designers developed the signage, wayfinding, and graphic installations for the tower. Inspired by the delicate details of the Vireo feather icon, precise patterns can be seen throughout the space including the small directional signs, the building’s main identification on the “front porch” and the graphically highlighted elevator lobbies.

To achieve this fine balance of intricate patterns and time-worn materials, woods and metals were chosen for their re-claimed and storied feel and used to frame and highlight these patterns and provide spaces where information can be relayed clearly to residents. The messages ranging from informative to historical snapshots of Atlanta culture, are scripted to help residents, as well as visitors, feel at home. This balance of design elements, materials, and story reinforce the theme of modern Southern hospitality present throughout the space.
