VEERING OFF THE TRADITIONAL PATH

SRSS designs another signature school for Rockdale County Public Schools

Atlanta, GA – Continuing to lead with new K-12 trends, Rockdale County Public Schools has selected SRSS as the architect of choice to design the new Pine Street Elementary School. The new building itself will serve as a teaching tool, supporting the trend that better educational facilities equal better performance on behalf of the students and teachers alike.

The new elementary school, which will be located off of Sigman Road, will feature collaborative spaces, a new media center equipped with state-of-the-art technology, an outdoor learning environment, and technologically integrated classrooms to support a blended learning curriculum.

“The face of education is evolving as technology continues to advance and become more pervasive in our lives. Nothing exemplifies this more than our most recent project, Pine Street Elementary School. Children today are more inquisitive of and interconnected to their surrounding, and their learning environment should reflect that,” said John Gerondelis, Principal at SRSS.

This is not the first time SRSS has worked with Rockdale County Public Schools to design innovative schools. The Firm has historically worked on various projects with Rockdale County Public Schools since 1997, and this is yet another groundbreaking school design setting new standards.

“This won’t be your grandfather’s elementary school,” said Richard Autry, Superintendent of Rockdale County Public School,”I am excited about the progress made and the foundation that has been formed to support our model for continuous growth. Specifically, our framework for personalized learning through increased specialty and choice options, our plan to reinvent the advisement process, and our One-to-One initiative.”

Carroll Daniel Construction held a Groundbreaking Ceremony for the new elementary school on May 2nd, 2017. The building is expected to be delivered by June 2018, just in time for the start of the 2018 school year.
