911 Communications Center

Athens-Clarke, Georgia

Vital Community Service Operations

The two primary components of this project are the 911 Communication Center with its adjoining support offices, a file, and an equipment room; and the Emergency Management Center complete with a command center and a conference/situation room. Each area has its own secure, separate entry while sharing a central kitchen, showers and restroom facilities.

For security purposes, direct access to the police station was removed from the Centers. Additional parking spaces were added to provide direct access for employees to the 911 Center’s Entrances. The renovation was designed to integrate aesthetically with the adjacent existing Police Station. The facility was designed to operate during any foreseeable emergencies, employing bullet resistant glass and walls, security entryways including card readers and an emergency power supply system. The new facility had to be completed without disrupting the 24-hour operation of the existing police facility.

SRSS also provided Interior Design services for this project. To learn more about this practice area, please click the link above.

"SRSS succeeded in designing a 911 Center that fully meets the needs of the community and The Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County is pleased with the facility. It is a highly functional, aesthetically pleasing project that was completed on time and within budget."
