Systems Software Engineering

Redstone Arsenal, Huntsville, Alabama

Strength of Purpose

SRSS provided  Architectural Design and Interior Design services as part of a Design-Build team for this two-story, 58,356 SF building at Redstone Arsenal near Huntsville, Alabama. The facility is designed to meet the requirements of aviation and weapons system software teams. Also, the facility supports the development, testing, integration and retrofitting of the Army’s inventory of existing and future aviation and missile systems. Although this project, known as SSEA-3, is a stand-alone facility, it is fully integrated into the Software Engineering Directorate Campus.

The design of the building’s exterior architecture appears as an extension of the existing Building 6264 located immediately to the south. SSEA-3 is designed to comply with force protection requirements and has an intrusion detection security system that integrates with the previous Phase I and II systems. A 100-foot long and 20-foot wide canopy is provided to connect the building entrance with the drop-off vehicle lane and surface parking lot. The site and landscape design support security goals about stand-off requirements.

"It was a pleasure working with your team on this project."
