The La Gare Masterplan, a Smallwood design for the Eagle Hills development company, is located in the capital of Ethiopia, Addis Ababa, and is one of the largest mixed-use development in the country. With a gross floor area of approximately 360,000 SM, it includes more than 4,000 residences, a 5-star Hotel, Offices and Retail components. The site is well situated in a very desirable neighborhood opposite the CBD and Government Precinct and is well connected to the rest of the city with a Metro station and main road frontage.
The vision is to bring attention to Ethiopia’s rich history and natural beauty, while contributing to the local market by creating jobs and further anchoring the site in the economy of Ethiopia. The entire open air retail mall is a niche space intended for local products. An internal spine creates a sense of community and reinforces connections between the project components and its residents, who get to enjoy their very own amenity areas and gardens.
