JOB DUTIES:

Responsible for the design and planning of building projects through all stages of the design and construction processes and work in our central offices in Atlanta under the supervision of a professionally licensed architect. Details of the job duties as follows:

1. Concept and Schematic Design Phases: Work in collaboration with & under the commercial direction of Associate & Principal level design architects to originate and develop architectural drawings, renderings, physical models and three-dimensional virtual models illustrating conceptual & schematic design options for presentation to project owners, community stakeholders & officials with jurisdiction over projects; Project types include high-rise multi-family housing buildings, hotels and resorts, mixed-use buildings, educational facilities, office buildings, aboveground and underground parking structures, performing arts centers, shopping malls and retail developments and other commercial design projects of the company, the majority of which can be constructed as precast or cast-in-place reinforced concrete structures utilizing tensile steel rebar reinforcement, and pretensioned or posttensioned methods with steel tendons; Review Owner program requirements for projects & coordinate their design efforts to achieve the goals described in the program; Prepare illustrations & presentations utilizing the firm’s specialized software products, including AutoCAD, Revit, V-Ray, Enscape, Sketchup & Adobe Creative Cloud (including Photoshop, InDesign & Illustrator); Illustrations & presentations will include static images, fly-thru animations and virtual reality presentations.

2. Design Development and Construction Document Phases: Work in collaboration with & under the direction of Associate & Principal level Project Managers to prepare detailed drawings for bidding and construction of building projects; Develop construction documentation illustrating aesthetic & functional requirements of the design through production of detailed briefs for construction, detailed construction drawings and detailed scale plans; Conduct site visits to obtain & assemble data required to complete architectural designs; Undertake research and documentation of local zoning & code ordinances which apply to individual projects, analyzing building codes, by-laws, space and site requirements and other technical documents; Coordinate the work with engineers & other specialty consultants providing design input on projects; Research materials and building systems data and coordinate with our specifications writing department in development of the Project Manual and details for the project Construction Documents.

3. Construction Phase: Review submittals and shop drawings required to complete installation of building systems and equipment to ensure building compliance with design specifications and advise on design corrections & alternatives; Assist Associate and Principal level Project Managers and Construction Administrators with documentation and record keeping associated with the company’s site observation services and respond to contractor request for information.

JOB REQUIREMENT: Bachelor's degree in Architecture plus at least 6 (six) months’ experiences working as an Intern Architect in an Architectural firm. Foreign degree equivalent is acceptable. Experience to include working on reinforced concrete structures; underground parking structures; development of architectural drawings; development of renderings; development of three-dimensional virtual models; AutoCAD; SketchUp; detailed construction drawings; Adobe Creative Cloud (including Photoshop, InDesign & Illustrator); construction documentation; schematic design; detailed scale plans; commercial design projects.

HOURS: M-F, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
