Job Duties:
- Project Captain oversees the development of design & construction documents, ensures project goals are met, and is responsible for project timelines, quality control, & managing day to day work with the team.
- Specific duties are as follows:
- Work in collaboration with & under direction of Associate & Principal level design architects to originate & develop architectural drawings, renderings, physical models & 3D virtual models illustrating conceptual & schematic design options for presentation to project owners, community stakeholders & officials with jurisdiction over projects.
- Project types include residential buildings, hotels & luxury resorts, mixed-use buildings, educational facilities, office buildings, aboveground & underground parking structures, performing arts centers, convention centers, retail developments & other commercial design projects, the majority of which can be constructed as Precast or Cast-in-Place reinforced concrete structures utilizing tensile steel rebar reinforcement, pretensioned or post-tensioned methods with steel tendons.
- Review Owner program requirements & coordinate the firm’s design efforts to achieve the program goals.
- Prepare illustrations & presentations utilizing Revit, Rhino, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign & Illustrator); illustrations & presentations include static images, fly-thru animations & virtual reality presentations.
- Work in collaboration with & under the direction of Associate & Principal level Project Managers to prepare detailed drawings for bidding & construction of building projects.
- Develop construction documentation illustrating aesthetic & functional requirements of the design through production of detailed briefs for construction, detailed construction drawings & detailed scale plans.
- Assist with code review to ensure the design is compliant with American Disabilities Act (ADA) & other code requirement documents, such as IBC & NFPA. Conduct research & documentation of local zoning & code ordinances which apply to individual projects, analyze building codes, by-laws, space & site requirements & other technical documents.
- Research materials & building systems data, coordinate with specifications writing department in development of the Project Manual & details for the project Construction Documents for both exterior & interior.
- Conduct site visits to obtain & assemble data required to complete architectural designs. Assist Associate & Principal level Project Managers & Construction Administrators with documentation, record keeping related to the company’s site observation services & respond to contractor request for information.
- Coordinate with engineering consultants, vendors and/or client interface throughout the project.
- Review submittals, shop drawings required to complete installation of building systems & equipment; ensure compliance with design specifications; advise on design corrections & alternatives.
- Coordinate document development & other production work.
- Advise clients on design factors such as space planning, site development, plan layout design, color coordination, finish use & materials selection. Assist Project Architect & Project Manager in development of project goals, schedules & construction drawings.
- Prepare 3D virtual model & renderings for schematic design & design development using BIM 360, Revit, Rhino, Enscape, SketchUp, and Adobe Creative Suite.
JOB REQUIREMENT:
At least a Bachelor's degree in Architecture plus minimum 5 years of post-baccalaureate experiences working as a Project Captain, Architectural Intern, Architectural Designer, or similar positions in an Architectural firm. Foreign degree equivalent is acceptable. Experience to include minimum 5 years working on Residential building projects; Hospitality facilities; mixed-use buildings; office buildings; schematic design; developing architectural drawings; renderings; physical models; 3D virtual models; working with Revit; Rhino; SketchUp; Enscape; and Adobe Creative Suite (including Photoshop, InDesign & Illustrator).
HOURS: M-F, 8:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.
