Smallwood, Reynolds, Stewart, Stewart & Associates, Inc. is currently seeking a Specifications Writer for our Atlanta, Georgia office. The Candidate will be responsible for the coordination of specifications for individual projects, modifications, product research, and updating Office Masters and project library.
Job Description:
- Utilize knowledge of construction products, materials, and methods to write specifications for a variety of complex projects and building types that include Education K-12, multi-family, hospitality, commercial, industrial, and interior design initiatives, and other diverse building types.
- Work as part of the project team, under the guidance of the Architect of Record, to produce Project Manuals utilizing the Office Masters.
- Maintain awareness of evolving building technology, systems, and building codes and ensure baseline specs are up to date with CSI and Code compliant.
- Author Division 00-14, selective 31, and 32 Architectural sections, and as needed custom sections, for inclusion in the Project Manual.
- Plan, schedule, and manage multiple projects and deadlines – phases, milestone deliverables for various project delivery types.
- Coordinate the Project Manual for all other disciplines.
- Assist teams in preparation of addenda/bulletins.
- Assist teams during Construction Administration phase to review submittals, substitution requests, and specifications related to RFI’s.
- Organize and plan accordingly to execute tasks and meet project deadlines.
- Self-check work for accuracy, omissions, and legibility.
- Mentor and train emerging professionals and project managers on the specifications process.
- Must be detail-oriented and have excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
- Must be highly organized, motivated, and a self-starter with an aptitude for learning and the ability to collaborate with teams.
- Must have the ability to perform multiple tasks and demonstrate adaptability by often changing assignments on short notice.
- Computer conversant and proficient in WordPerfect X9, Microsoft Office Suite, Acrobat Pro, and Bluebeam.
Experience & Education
Ten (10) years minimum architecturally related experience preferred.
Construction Specifications Institute (CSI) Certification CCS or CDT minimum.
