Phu Quoc, Vietnam
Located on an isthmus in Southern Vietnam, the client wanted a series of villas, guestrooms and public spaces that reflected the “Bovi” timber frame architectural style. Simple finishes and natural materials were to be used to set the buildings in the landscape an underpin the strong cultural vernacular of Vietnam’s heritage.
Smallwood has created a series of stand-alone villas and chalets inspired by the local architecture but with more contemporary elements introduced in the selection of FF&E. A key criterion is for the spaces to be accented towards the sea views and to ensure the rooms can be opened up as much as possible to blur the zones between interior and exterior.
