Vibrant Church Finds New Home

Cross Pointe Church is located on seventy-one wooded acres in a fast-developing area north of Atlanta. Formerly a defense system manufacturing plant, Cross Pointe Church began its ministry by utilizing three of the existing buildings containing over 346,000 SF. This multi-phased facility accommodated a 1500-seat temporary sanctuary, provision for the preschool children’s ministry, classrooms, and a future worship center for 4,000-7,000 people.

Temporary Sanctuary

Existing Building Three, containing approximately 150,000 GSF, was chosen to house the temporary sanctuary with seating for 1500 people. The existing roof structure remained in place, while 8’0” deep long span trusses were added so that the existing columns could then be removed, providing a column-free space for the sanctuary. New entrances and vertical circulation were provided to accommodate the increased capacity of people. Lower level space was refurbished to provide classrooms for preschool children and space for future expansion. The 1500-seat temporary sanctuary uses the latest audiovisual equipment with a totally flexible stage contains theatrical lighting, movable platforms, and various locations for electrical connections. A suspended grid allows for various configurations of overhead lighting and speakers.

The Youth Ministry Renovation

The Youth Ministry renovation totals 32,890 SF of space and includes a 400+ seat student worship room with raised platform stage and full audiovisual capabilities, 6,000 SF multi-function youth teaching / youth fellowship hall, and a youth activity / gaming area that links the spaces together. The program goals included creating an aesthetically vibrant and functional space to spark the interests of the youth congregation. Services consisted of programming, architectural design, interior design and construction administration.
