East Coast Road Development

Chennai, India

All in One Shopping and Leisure Complex

East Coast Road Development’s masterplan is structured to take advantage of the 96,308 SM site’s proximity to the coast. 5,345 SM of serviced apartments are provided in conjunction with the five-star business hotel and are located along the easternmost edge of the site’s extend linkages and views to the beach while the three-star budget hotel and serviced apartments along the western side of the site provide views over the existing lagoon. Parking for 903 cars and 1,091 motorbikes is provided throughout the development. The program for the project includes a wide range of amenities including an eight-screen multiplex cinema, an outdoor public plaza, the Hall of Chennai and Tamil Museum.

The Hall of Chennai, the hotel, and the retail mall allow a design and architectural relationship to be formed between the three buildings. It is intended that the central plaza, located on the existing village road and bounded by the 26,213 SM retail mall to the east and the 16,181 SM food village/multiplex to the west, forms the key central focus of the commercial sites. These two foci are linked by introducing a curved road connection providing access into the hotel/serviced apartment courtyard drop-off.
