Rock Springs Church

Macon, GA

Visual storytelling that resonates deeply with faith and community

Rock Springs Church is a leading congregation Georgia that aspired to tell the their history in a compelling installation at their Macon Campus. At the end of 2024 and into early 2025, Rock Springs Church merged with Turning Point Church in Macon, formerly known as Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church. As part of this milestone, the church leadership sought not only to expand the Rock Springs campus, but also to honor the rich history of Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church in Macon.

Smallwood teamed with the creative director of Rock Springs Church to bring this vision to life through the design of a 48-foot “Church Legacy Wall” at the Macon campus. The installation tells the story of Mabel White Memorial Baptist Church from its beginnings in 1900, highlighting moments of growth and the contributions of key figures who shaped the local ministry. With three-dimensional elements, narrative text, photographs, meaningful artifacts, and thematic ideation to establish visual and storytelling elements, the wall weaves together the legacy of the past with the mission and vision of Rock Springs Church today.

From the earliest design concepts to detailed construction drawings, the Smallwood EGD team oversaw every step of processing potential challenges in fabrication and installation, and coordinating closely with the vendor to verify the final wall reflected the design intent and met the client’s expectations.

Upon completion, the Legacy Wall was revealed during the church’s 'Dedication Sunday', an event attended by more than 1,000 members and guests. The hall was filled with people of all ages, finding resonance with history and faith as they experienced the story brought to life.

"Thanks so much for the care and effort your team put into this! It was well noticed. We had well over 1,000 in attendance on Sunday and the hallway was flooded after service with people trying to get a first look. Many looked at it with tears in their eyes on Sunday."
