As an Associate and Senior Designer of the Firm, Stéphane has over twenty-five years of professional experience designing and managing projects thoughout China, South East Asia, the Middle East, Africa and Europe. This vast international experience gives him a versatility as well as an extensive knowledge of the local sensibilities, specificities, cultures, practices and regulations.
Mr. Colle has designed projects of all sizes from individual houses in the suburb of Paris to high-rise residential towers in Jakarta and Shenzhen, from a coffee shop in Wanchai to various shopping malls in Shanghai, from Hong Kong godowns to five-star hotels in Libya and Bahrain.
Before joining Smallwood Singapore in 2004, Mr. Colle spent twelve years in Hong Kong working for various firms.
Prior to Hong Kong, Mr. Colle learned his skills in France under the wings of renowned Architect Claude Parent, collaborating on various projects and competitions (an archeological museum in Quinson, a culinary school in Toulon, the Centre Culturel Juif Européen in Paris, the Electricité de France headquarter in Saint-Denis, l’Aéronef animation center in Roissypôle CDG airport)
I do not believe in ready-made formulas, each design is a response for a specific problem at a specific time. Design should be unique, adequate and if not flexible, very ephemeral. As Auguste Perret said: 'Architecture is what makes beautiful ruins'”
